You can delete your HandedDown data at any time, either in the app or by emailing us.

Delete in the app

Delete your whole family (the parent who created the family):

1. Open HandedDown and tap the gear icon at the top of the home screen.
2. Tap Delete our family and all its data.
3. Tap Delete everything to confirm.

Leave a family (any other parent):

1. Tap the gear icon.
2. Tap Leave this family, then Leave.

Remove a kid's device:

1. On that device, tap the gear icon.
2. Tap Leave the family on this phone, then Leave.

Ask us to delete it

If you can't use the app, email [email protected] with the subject "Delete my HandedDown data," from the Google account you signed in with. Tell us whether you want the whole family deleted or just your own sign-in. We'll confirm and complete it within 30 days.

What gets deleted

• Deleting a family permanently removes the family name, every how-to, the Know by heart card, the family code, the list of parents and every joined device's membership, plus the owner's sign-in.
• Leaving a family removes that parent's email from the family and deletes their sign-in. The family's how-tos stay for everyone else.
• Removing a kid's device deletes its anonymous sign-in and membership.

Deleted data is removed right away from the live database. We don't keep separate backups of family content.

Reading levels and "I've got this" checkmarks are stored only on each phone; uninstalling the app removes them.
